The Anthony Timberlands Center for Design and Materials Innovation is a transformative project by the Fay Jones School of Architecture and Design at the University of Arkansas. Designed by the Pritzker Prize-winning Grafton Architects in collaboration with modus studio, this four-story, 41,000-square-foot facility will house classrooms, studios, and research spaces alongside a state-of-the-art fabrication lab. Positioned as a “Story Book of Timber,” the center integrates innovative mass timber construction while celebrating Arkansas’s forest resources.

This visionary center, funded by a generous gift from John Ed and Isabel Anthony, matching contributions from the university, and state support, emphasizes Arkansas-sourced timber innovation to benefit the local environment and economy. Located within the university’s Art and Design District in Fayetteville, the center reflects a commitment to cutting-edge sustainability, exceptional design, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
